Saga Consulting specializes in the remediation of chlorinated solvents and hydrocarbon contamination.
We have designed groundwater remediation systems throughout Europe and we have pioneered the application of in situ oxidation techniques in Northern Italy.
In the Turin province, we have designed and executed an in situ soil and groundwater treatment scheme to remediate a small area within a factory that had become extensively contaminated by chlorinated solvents. The scheme relied on the granulation of the contaminated soil and the in situ injection of potassium permanganate to abate the contaminants.
In the Varese Province we have designed and are currently executing a groundwater remediation scheme to abate chlorinated solvents in groundwater through reductive dechlorination. To achieve this the aquifer has to be reduced with the aid of carbon rich fluids (molasses) that stimulate the dechlorination process carried out by autoctonous bacteria.
In most of our remedial projects we carry out health based risk assessments and ecological risk assessments either to determine acceptable remedial targets or to assess the possible reutilization of treated groundwater in the industrial processes.
In Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Georgia we have effectively remediated crude oil spills from onshore pipelines and oil fields through in situ bioremediation processes and free product recovery from groundwater.
